Eintracht Frankfurt vs Augsburg
Competition: Germany Bundesliga
Date: 14 April 2019
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
A lot of things went wrong for Eintracht Frankfurt midweek, when they visited Benfica for a Europa League quarterfinal first leg, mostly losing N’Dicka in the 20th minute to a direct red card, and going 1-0 down right after that (from the penalty spot). The Bundesliga side equalized before halftime, and at some point they found themselves losing 4-1, facing elimination right in the eyes. Gonçalo Paciência’s goal in the 72nd minute, that 4-2, left them with some hope. The return leg is in a few days, in Frankfurt. In the Bundesliga, a 99th-minute penalty kick gave Eintracht all three points last weekend, in Gelsenkirchen (1-2), a game which they should have put to bed way-way earlier. They sit 4th in the table, knowing that a top four finish depends on themselves first and then on other teams. They are expected to start with Trapp, Hinteregger, Hasebe, N’Dicka, Da Costa, Rode, Fernandes, Kostic, Gacinovic, Paciencia and Jovic. Two guys, Haller and Tawatha, are out, injured. The day before the game, Chandler, Rebic, Russ and Toure were considered doubtful.
You cannot blame Augsburg for losing to Hoffenheim last weekend, no matter if it was at home, no matter if the final score was heavy (0-4). They conceded the first goal very early, in the 6th minute, they actually had their moments to equalize, but in the last half hour they sort of collapsed, seeing Belfodil score three more goal for super hot lately Hoffenheim. Augsburg sit 15th in the table, and on Saturday they were following closely Stuttgart’s game against Bayer Leverkusen (Stuttgart are 16th, four points behind Augsburg, at least before their game versus Leverkusen). Kobel, Schmid, Gouweleeuw, Khedira, Max, Baier, Hahn, Koo, Gregoritsch, Ji and Finnbogason, these should be the first 11. Framberger, Giefer and Götze are unavailable. Cordoba and Moravek were considered doubtful the day before the game.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Augsburg: Head to head Stats
Just one win for Eintracht, two for Augsburg, and two draws, in the last five games between these two in Frankfurt.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Augsburg: Prediction
Eintracht played on Thursday, but looking back at how they have done the whole season right after Europa League games, you see that they have actually managed to cope with fatigue very well.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Augsburg: Betting Tips
If Eintracht were hosting another team, a stronger side, I would actually bet against them, not having liked what I saw last weekend at Schalke. I just don’t find Augsburg… inspiring enough though, to bet on them to produce a surprise in Frankfurt. The hosts’ win pays just 1.50, but combined with “over 2.5 goals” it goes up to 2.05.
