England vs France
Competition: Six Nations Rugby
Date: 04 February 2017
Kick-off: 17:50 CET
The defending champions will have a real tough time holding on to their incredible winning record and maintaining their amazing performances as their second season under Eddie Jones comes to fruition. But when they face France they will feel eased into a tough Six Nations, or will they?
France have come into this tournament with a sense of seriousness which is so often lacking from the lackadaisical and unbothered French. The media has praised coach Guy Noves and his selection of the team which they argue is is best possible fifteen to face England. It is always a charged game as well, and one that the French will be switched on for, so if England are even slightly off their game you can count on the French capitalizing and making a real fist of it. Noves offers more determination and stability, and with the flair still there, this could be a very different looking French side.
England have bulldozed their way into the spotlight as one of the best teams in the world, but the second season syndrome is a real thing and they will know that they cannot rely on reputation alone as the target will be firmly on their back. Eddie Jones has created a winning team out of pretty much the same squad that was booted out of their own World Cup in 2015 during the Group Stages, and as such, he will know there is no reason why the Red Roses should not compete for the glory again in the Northern Hemisphere.
England vs France: Previous Year’s Performance
England scooped it all last year with a flawless showing in the Six Nations. They won five out of five and as such claimed not only the trophy but also the much coveted Grand Slam and Triple Crown, not to mention the Calcutta Cup, Millennium Trophy, Centenary Quaich and Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy.
France on the other hand were fifth with only two wins, and placed lower than Scotland with the same results. They managed to beat Italy and Ireland by a single point.
England vs France: Prediction
Again, France look good on paper before the tournament has kicked off, but a lot like Scotland, they have a tendency to disappoint. They are also facing an incredibly good England side for the title and as such, they may be improved, but England will be ruthless. Expect the English to break the French down and then run riot towards the end of the game.
England vs France: Tips
Backing England is the easy bet here, but it won’t net much returns, so it will be worth backing England for a big win as they will slowly overpower the French and then cut loose in the second half with four tries a minimum they will score.
