England vs Italy
Competition: Six Nations
Date: 26 February 2017
Kick-off: 16:00 CET
Even with England having a massive target on their back, they will not be fearing an Italian side that has shown again that they have done nothing different in their approach to this Six Nations campaign. England have chosen a few fringe players and will still dominate this game easily.
Italy looked as if they may have changed in their opening half of their opening game against Wales, heading into the break with a lead. They had just come back from a winter where they beat South Africa in the November Internationals, but it was more about how poor Wales were more than a new look Italian side. The Welsh soon rallied and the Italians could not keep up as they then lost badly. In their next game, Italy showed their true colours as Ireland soon ripped them a part in the second game. It looks as if it i going to be another long season for the Italians as things do not get easier against England, even with a few fringe players in their team.
England are using this game to give their squad members and returning injury concerns a good competitive hit out. Players like James Haskell and Mako Vunipola have a chance to start after a spell on the sideline, and x-factor players like Anthony Watson and Ben Te’o will also be given their chance to shine against an Italian side that will be easy to pierce. England are still unbeaten, and look good to defend their title, but their wins have not been convincing, rather they have been lucky as admitted by coach Eddie Jones. This game will be a simple one, but one that will help them prepare for the likes of Scotland and Ireland in games to come.
England vs Italy: Head-to-Head Stats
Italy will need to look elsewhere for inspiration to beat the English for in their 22 encounters, England have walked away with the win on every occasion. In the last three games, England have also scored 40-points or more.
England vs Italy: Prediction
This does not look like the sort of game that Italy are suddenly going to break with tradition and win. England are slightly weakened, but only a bit, but they still have so much depth and ability that they will still be a good cohesive team. Italy have tried to improve, but it really is not showing as they have their same issues showing from years and years back. England will win easily.
England vs Italy: Tips
It is more about guessing how much England will win by, so with the English winning by forty points three consecutive games, then that would be a good bet.
