Exeter Chiefs vs London Irish
Competition: Aviva Premiership Rugby
Date: 09 September 2017
Kick off: 16:00 CET
London Irish and Exeter Chiefs are very different team as one is champion and the other recently promoted but they also had very different starts to the competition as the champs lost and the new boys won.
For Exeter, after their historic and record breaking season last year where they were crowned the champions, the opening round was a terrible start to their defence as they fell to a Gloucester side that was much more hyped up and ready to go than them. It was a close one that saw Exeter heading for a draw at best before a late Jason Woodward try, on 80 minutes saw the Champs fall to a loss in their opening game. They are at home now, against arguably the weakest team as a promoted side, and as such there is big expectation in them to win this game, and win it they must if they are to even have a chance at defending their thrown.
For the London Irish it was the perfect start for a team that had to make its way up through the ranks of the B league in England as they defeated one of the most famous clubs in England – the Harlequins. The Quins are a lethal outfit packed with internationals but the hungry Irish were better on the day as they dominated at home. There was not a time in the match that London Irish were training as they kept a lid on the Harlequins attempt to break away from their defence. Now, if they are to carry on their good start, they have to travel to the defending champions in what will be a rough game in these early stages.

Exeter Chiefs vs London Irish: Prediction
The Chiefs are champions for a reason and although they lost in the opening round, it was a close game and one moment of magic that doomed them. At home, against a new team they will be ruthless and back to their best as they give the Irish a dose of their southern medicine.
