FC Copenhagen vs Lokomotiv Moscow
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 14 September 2017
Kick-off: 19:00 CET
Venue: Telia Parken
After reaching the last 16 of the Europa League last season (they got eliminated by Ajax), FC Copenhagen came super close to playing UEFA Champions League group stage football this season, and they only missed out on that due to the away goal rule. They lost 1-0 at Qarabag, beat them 2-1 back home in the return leg, but their failure to score in Azerbaijan cost them dearly. Last weekend they beat Midtjylland 4-3 at home in a highly entertaining game, in which their fourth goal was scored by Portugal born but Greece international Zeca, in his first game after getting transferred from Panathinaikos. They have 12 points from eight matches in Denmark’s championship, and are currently sitting 6th in the table.
Lokomotiv Moscow didn’t finish higher than 8th in last season’s Russia Premier League, far below the spots that earned teams UEFA competition tickets, but they won the Cup, which got them a direct ticket to the Europa League group stage. They have started the new championship campaign in Russia very well, picking up 20 points in nine matches so far, sitting second in the table, just one point behind leaders Zenit. Last weekend they drew 1-1 at Akhmat Grozny, after back-to-back wins, including one over Spartak Moscow, a fantastic 4-3 at Spartak’s home.

FC Copenhagen vs Lokomotiv Moscow: Head to head Stats
Copenhagen have never hosted Lokomotiv before. They have played against each other once, but it was in Moscow, in 2007 (Europa League group stage, in times when the groups had five teams), and the Danish side won 1-0.
FC Copenhagen vs Lokomotiv Moscow: Prediction
FC Copenhagen are considered slight favorites to win the game. Personally, I trust the Russian side enough to earn at least a draw.
FC Copenhagen vs Lokomotiv Moscow: Betting Tips
Lokomotiv’s double chance pays 1.53, low. Betting companies expect this to be a game of up to two goals. Over 2.5 total goals pays a very good 2.35 betting odds, and I like it because Copenhagen somehow “manage” to play their part in producing some big scores. Lokomotiv’s last three games had 12 goals as well.
