FCSB vs Viktoria Plzen
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 14 September 2017
Kick-off: 21:05 CET
After their goalless draw in Lisbon against Sporting, and even more after their impressive performance on that night, Steaua filled their fans with hope that they had what was necessary to eliminate such a big opponent. The return leg in Bucharest was a total embarrassment though. To be more exact, the second half was a total embarrassment. The score was at 1-1 until the 59th minute, but in the last half hour Sporting ran wild, finishing the game on a hard to believe 1-5(!), “condemning” Steaua to Europa League group stage football for the remainder of the year. Last season as well Steaua played in the group stage of the same competition, failing to qualify for the last 32. Last weekend they lost 1-0 at Viitorul, and are now sitting fourth in the table of Romania’s championship, four points behind leaders CFR Cluj, and level on points with Astra and CSU Craiova.
Ironically, Viktoria Plzen find opposite them in the opening match of the Europa League group stage the very team that… kicked them out of the Champions League qualifiers back in August. It’s Viktoria that Steaua eliminated before facing Sporting, with the first game in Romania ending in a 2-2 draw, and Steaua triumphing 4-1 in the return leg in the Czech Republic. Viktoria Plzen got the job done against AEK Larnaca in the Europa League playoffs, 3-1 win at home, goalless draw in Cyprus, so they’re back to the group stage, just like last season, when they failed to make it through to the last 32. Last weekend they won 3-0 at Slovan Liberec, their sixth win in as many matches in the Czech Republic’s championship, where they are obviously sitting first in the table, six points above second-placed Slavia Prague.

FCSB vs Viktoria Plzen: Head to head Stats
Steaua have hosted Viktoria Plzen once before, just a month and a half ago, in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. The game in Bucharest ended in a 2-2 draw.
FCSB vs Viktoria Plzen: Prediction
The two games between these two back in August had a total of nine goals, so it’s easy to choose over 2.5 combined total goals, and… not worry about who wins or loses. It’s a very… simplistic way of looking at this, but I do feel it makes sense.
FCSB vs Viktoria Plzen: Betting Tips
Over 2.5 combined goals is at 2.00 betting odds, and I consider it a good way to see your money doubled in this match. I definitely prefer it to Steaua’s 2.10, and Viktoria Plzen’s 1.70 (double chance).
