FK Rostov vs Sparta Prague
Competition: UEFA Europe League
Date: 16th February 2017
Kick-off: 19:00 CET
FK Rostov had a tough mission in the Champions League. They were in the group with Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich, so the third position was probably all they could hope for. FK Rostov lost only one of their six European home matches (W2 D3 L1). The Russian side managed to win 3:2 against Bayern Munich at home, so Sparta Prague should not underestimate them. Rostov are also undefeated in the last nine matches in all competition including friendlies as they have winter break in the domestic competition. They have scored in all seven friendly matches, 18 goals in total. Coach Daniliants has no fresh selection worries.
Sparta Prague secured placement in this stage as the first placed team in Group K. They won all three home matches and achieved victory against Hapoel Beer Sheva on the road. That was the only away points they achieved in their group. Sparta also had a break in domestic competition and played friendly matches. The Czech outfit are undefeated in all eight of them, obtaining five victories and three draws. They have scored 22 goals in these matches. Coach Pozar, who was appointed on that position during the winter break, has four injured players ahead of this match – David Hovorka, Martin Frydek, Ondrej Zahustel and David Brezina.
FK Rostov vs Sparta Prague : Head-to-head Stats
This will be their first meeting and also Rostov’s first match with Czech opponents. Sparta have previous experience with Russian teams and played 13 official matches. Their record is four wins, five draws and four defeats. Their last match with a Russian team was in the last season’s UEFA Europa League Round of 32 when they beat Krasnodar 4:0 on aggregate.
FK Rostov vs Sparta Prague: Prediction
FK Rostov have good record in their European home matches. They have lost just once in their last six UEFA home fixtures, which was a narrow 1:0 defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid back in October. Sparta Prague have more experience in this kind of matches, so they will try to achieve a good result ahead of the second leg in Prague. A draw is surely a good result for the Czech outfit, so I expect a defensive approach from the guests. Rostov won’t risk too much either. Considering this fact, I expect Under 2.5 goals at 1.57 .
FK Rostov vs Sparta Prague: Tips
FK Rostov are playing in the spring phase of this competition for the first time. Their inexperience could prevent them from winning. Considering the fact that both teams will not risk too much in the first leg, I suppose a draw is a possible outcome here. 3.50 for draw.
