Flamengo vs America Mineiro
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 22 April 2018
Kick-off: 00:00 CET
From having almost 50,000 fans in their last training session before hosting Santa Fe in the Libertadores, to having angry messages written by fans on the walls of the club facilities in Gávea. Flamengo drew 1-1 to Santa Fe on Wednesday, they are on five points from three matches in their Libertadores group, but some fans didn’t like it, and… made sure to express their anger. Keep in mind, Fla played behind closed doors, still banned for what fans of theirs did last season before the Copa Sudamericana final against Independiente. Last weekend, in a game that was as tense as a derby in the last game week of a season, Flamengo drew 2-2 at Vitória, in Bahia, taking the lead twice, and playing with ten men since the 10th minute, when Everton Ribeiro got sent off for preventing a goal with his hand(?) right on the line. Penalty 1-1, and final 2-2, in a game that could have gone way worse for the Rio de Janeiro giants.
América Mineiro threw a party last weekend at home, in the first half, hosting Sport Recife. When they went to the dressing room they were 3-0 up, having missed more chances to score, not having allowed Sport a single real visit to their box. The second half was a very different story. The Minas Gerais side were lucky not to concede. All things considered, they definitely deserved all three points, awesome start of the season for them, despite having almost half a dozen players out, due to injuries. Goalkeeper João Ricardo, midfielder David, left-back Giovanni and striker Matheusinho are some of those unavailable (most are expected back before the end of the month).

Flamengo vs America Mineiro: Head to head Stats
Three wins for Flamengo in as many games the last two years over América Mineiro as hosts. Only one of those three matches went over 2.5 goals.
Flamengo vs America Mineiro: Prediction
Flamengo just played a very demanding game against Santa Fe, and right after hosting América, they fly to Colombia for an even more crucial Libertadores game against the same Colombian side. These make me hesitant to predict a win of theirs, despite the fact that they are a far superior to América team.
Flamengo vs America Mineiro: Betting Tips
Despite my doubts, I would still bet on Flamengo to win, because at the end of the day, they have the roster and the motive to win this game, regardless of the whole… Libertadores “distraction”. I wouldn’t bet on a simple win of theirs though, I feel 1.50 is not tempting, doesn’t make the risk worth it, I would go all in and combine their victory with “over 2.5 goals”, at 2.45, expecting, actually, América to score.
