Flamengo vs Corinthians
Competition: Copa do Brasil
Date: 5 June 2019
Kick-off: 02:30 CET
Petkovic, a Flamengo legend, now a TV commentator, said that Gabriel Barbosa’s game on Saturday against Fortaleza was his best with Fla’s jersey, and he must have been right. “Gabigol” scored twice, and those two goals gave the Rio de Janeiro giants all three points (2-0). A day earlier, the club had announced that they reached a deal with Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, who will take over at the start of the Copa América break, so as to have a month to work before Flamengo’s first official game after the restart of the season. Uruguayan Giorgian de Arrascaeta was awesome last weekend, but has left to join his national team. Colombian Gustavo Cuéllar is a similar case. Bruno Henrique and Piris da Motta will be their substitutes. Be reminded, Flamengo won 0-1 in Sao Paulo in the first leg, thanks to a Willian Arão goal in the 79th minute. Maracana is expected to be full, as 48,000 tickets had already been sold two days before kick-off.
Unlike Flamengo who played last weekend, Corinthians did not, as they had to face Deportivo Lara on Thursday, in a Copa Sudamericana game, and there was simply not enough time to squeeze a Serie A match into their schedule, as there was this Copa do Brasil game scheduled on Tuesday. The rule of the 72 hours (in between games) would have to get violated, so Corinthians’ game against Goiás got postponed. That was obviously good news for Fábio Carille and his players, as they had more time to get ready for this massive game. Right-back Fagner was doubtful the day before the game, still troubled by an injury he picked up last week in Venezuela. Unlike him, midfielder Ramiro is available, but not expected to be in the starting lineup. Corinthians are expected to start with Cássio, Fagner (or Michel), Manoel, Henrique, Danilo Avelar, Ralf, Júnior Urso, Jadson, Sornoza, Clayson and Vagner Love.

Flamengo vs Corinthians: Head to head Stats
Two wins for Flamengo, one for Corinthians (back in 2015), and two draws, in the last five games between these two in Rio de Janeiro.
Flamengo vs Corinthians: Prediction
Flamengo don’t need to win, but I still expect them to.
Flamengo vs Corinthians: Betting Tips
Fla’s victory pays 1.72. It’s not fantastic, but I would stay with that, unable to choose between “over” and “under 2.5 goals”. I just trust Flamengo to win, pleasing the crowd, building on their good performance last weekend.
