Flamengo vs Gremio
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 11 August 2019
Kick-off: 00:00 CET
Flamengo got embarrassed by Bahia last weekend, losing 3-0 in Salvador. They conceded all three goals in the first half, in a matter of 25 minutes. They have scored 25 goals in 13 Serie A matches this season, no other team have scored that much, but on the other hand, they have conceded no less than 16(!) goals. Only seven teams, including the last five ones in the table, have allowed more. Jorge Jesus is still missing key players; Gabriel Barbosa, Lincoln and Rodrigo Caio are recovering from injuries, and Fla’s target is to have them available on August, 21, in the first leg of their Copa Libertadores quarterfinal against Internacional. Vitinho underwent surgery three weeks ago and is still nowhere near to returning to action. As for Diego, Fla’s number 10, it will be a small miracle if he manages to play again this season. Diego Alves, Rafinha, Thuler, Pablo Marí, Filipe Luís, Cuéllar, Arão, Gerson, Everton Ribeiro, De Arrascaeta and Bruno Henrique, these should start for Flamengo, who sit third in the table, on 24 points, eight behind leaders Santos.
Gremio shot their own foot last Monday, hosting Chapecoense. Despite taking the lead twice in the first half, they needed an 80th-minute goal to avoid defeat (3-3). Renato Gaúcho cannot count on Pedro Geromel, Maicon and Alisson, as all three are suspended. Keeping in mind that Gremio are facing Athletico Paranaense on Wednesday, in the first leg of their Copa do Brasil semifinal, we should expect to see Júlio César, Léo Moura, Paulo Miranda, David Braz, Juninho Capixaba, Romulo, Thaciano, Rafael Galhardo, Luan, Pepê and Diego Tardelli in the starting lineup against Flamengo, meaning, with some regulars (other than the three suspended ones) out. Gremio are just 13th in the table, on 17 points.

Flamengo vs Gremio: Prediction
Gremio’s mind right now is mostly on Wednesday’s Copa do Brasil semifinal against Athletico Paranaense. One way or another, I expect Flamengo to win.
Flamengo vs Gremio: Betting Tips
A simple Fla victory is not paying more than 1.55. Combined with “under 3.5 goals” though, it’s at 2.05.
