Flamengo vs Santa Fe
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 19 April 2018
Kick-off: 02:45 CET
Vinícius Júnior made the headlines when Real Madrid made sure to sign him last year, still a teenager. Ever since then, he has had more… eyes on him playing for Flamengo, sometimes impressing, sometimes… not so much. His 25 minutes at Emelec in Fla’s previous Libertadores game, made many mumble “ahaaa… That’s why Real Madrid signed him”. He was sent in with 23 minutes to go. Flamengo had just gone 1-0 down. Two goals of his gave the Rio de Janeiro side a huge away win. Last weekend, Flamengo drew 2-2 at Vitória (despite playing with 10 ten for more than 80 minutes!), on their Brazil Série A debut. Do keep in mind, this game is held behind closed doors, as Flamengo are still serving a two-match ban for things some of their fans did last season, before the Copa Sudamericana final against Independiente. It’s worth mentioning that the day before the game, almost 50,000 people attended Fla’s training session(!) at Maracana. Flamengo have won the Libertadores just once, and that was almost 40 years ago. Their fans are desperate to see their team win the competition, and since they can’t watch the game from the stands, they made sure to support the team in their last training.
Gregorio Pérez no more at Santa Fe. He got fired after their latest failure in Colombia’s championship. Three straight draws have left the Bogotá side 13th in the table, with limited chances of finishing in the top 8, so as to compete in the final stages and challenge for the title. Several names have been heard as Pérez’s heir, bit the club haven’t made a final decision yet. Santa Fe are on two points from as many games in the group, still undefeated, and having back-to-back games against Flamengo coming up. In their previous game they did very well defensively, earning a goalless draw at River Plate.

Flamengo vs Santa Fe: Head to head Stats
This is the first game ever between these two.
Flamengo vs Santa Fe: Prediction
Santa Fe seem like a tough nut to break in the Libertadores, but despite playing behind closed doors, I expect Flamengo to prove they are a better team, and win the game.
Flamengo vs Santa Fe: Betting Tips
A simple Flamengo win pays just 1.44. For more than that, I would risk with “Fla and over 2.5 goals”, at 2.30. River Plate were way below average when they hosted Santa Fe and got stuck to a goalless draw creating super few chances to score. I expect Flamengo to be much more… ruthless when attacking.
