General Diaz vs Deportivo Capiata
Competition: Paraguay Clausura
Date: 2 November 2018
Kick-off: 23:00 CET
Genera Díaz lost 2-0 to Sportivo Luqueño last weekend, a Luque derby that was held at Defensores del Chaco, in Asunción. The… smaller of the two Luque sides are sitting at the bottom of the Clausura table, on just 15 points from 16 matches. In the “tabla acumulada”, in which both Apertura and Clausura points are taken into account, they are 10th, but just two points behind Deportivo Santaní, who, today, occupy the last position that leads to next season’s Copa Sudamericana. Interestingly, Santaní are the only team General Díaz managed to beat in their last five Clausura matches (and what a victory that was, a 4-0 triumph). Believe it or not, General Díaz have the third best scoring record in the Clausura(!), they have sent the ball in 22 times. Only leaders Olimpia and second-placed Cerro Porteño have scored more than them. On the other hand, they have allowed 30 goals! No other team has allowed more than 24 in this Clausura tournament.
In the Press, these last days have been all about Santiago Salcedo, who scored last weekend, and became the all-time leading scorer in Paraguay’s domestic competitions (128 goals). Salcedo-aside though, Deportivo Capiatá got butchered by Olimpia last weekend (1-4), and for the first time in weeks and weeks, they are below the 7th position in the “tabla acumulada”, the last one that gives – for sure – a Copa Sudamericana ticket. They are currently 9th, one point behind Deportivo Santaní and Guaraní. If Capiatá want to play international football next season, they’d better finally show it; they have earned just two of the last 15 points possible, in five matches.

General Diaz vs Deportivo Capiata: Prediction
It doesn’t look like it, but this is some sort of… derby, between two teams that want to stay alive in the fight to earn a Copa Sudamericana ticket. The hosts are considered slight favorites to win, but I wouldn’t bet on that. In a game that has General Díaz in, with their scoring record, “over 2.5 goals” has to be my top choice.
General Diaz vs Deportivo Capiata: Betting Tips
“Over 2.5 goals” pays 2.00, my only tip.
