Gimnasia La Plata vs Huracan
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 9 December 2018
Kick-off: 23:20 CET
So what if they had eliminated Boca Juniors and River Plate in previous Copa Argentina rounds? Gimnasia La Plata lost to Rosario Central on Thursday, in the final, in Mendoza, a… tough defeat to swallow, on penalties, a massive opportunity lost, to win a trophy, to earn a Copa Libertadores group stage ticket. Gimnasia’s players looked… impossible to console once the penalties were over, knowing they had just missed the opportunity to make history at the club. Truth is, with the roster they have, even reaching the final was a massive success, especially taking into consideration whom they faced and had to eliminate in previous rounds of the competition. In the Superliga they are 21st, on 14 points from as many games. They are 21st in the “promedio” table as well, one of the teams that will fight in 2019 to avoid relegation.
Huracán hosted Defensa y Justicia last weekend, the last undefeated team in this Superliga edition. El Globo had won three matches in a row, and in the 42nd minute they took the lead, thanks to a Lucas Gamba (he, again) goal. When added time started counting, Huracán were still winning, and “catching” third-placed Defensa on 26 points. Seconds later, Defensa equalized, the game ended 1-1, and Huracán remained three points behind their opponents last weekend, fourth in the table, nine points behind leaders Racing Club, but with two matches in hand.

Gimnasia La Plata vs Huracan: Head to head Stats
Last season, Huracán won 1-3 in La Plata. Before that, Gimnasia had six wins in a row hosting El Globo, starting in 2008.
Gimnasia La Plata vs Huracan: Prediction
I think this is a golden opportunity for Huracán to leave La Plata with all three points. Gimnasia played three days ago, are… heartbroken, and fatigue/lost Copa Argentina final-aside, there is no doubt this season Huracán have a much better team than Gimnasia.
Gimnasia La Plata vs Huracan: Betting Tips
Huracán’s win pays 3.00. I like it so much that I wouldn’t go for the more conservative approach, their victory in “draw no bet” (1.90), I would bet on their win just like that. Even “Huracán to win and keep a clean sheet” looks awesome to me, at 4.33.
