Glamorgan vs Hampshire
Competition: NatWest T20 Blast
Date: 07 July 2017
Play starts: 19:30 CET
The Welsh side Glamorgan did well to come second in their division, but would have been embarrassed about the way they left the tournament. They have a lot to prove against Hampshire who struggled last year.
The Royals of Hampshire ended up winning just the four games out of their 14 all season – two were no results, but that still meant they lost eight games. It was a poor showing that saw them come second past in the South Division, just ahead of Somerset in stone last with seven points. Hampshire is a proud and successful club, so they will want to write off that season and make a better go of things this time around with the help of a host of internationals like Kyle Abbott, Fidel Edwards, Fraser Hay, Ian Holland, Zimbabwe’s Sean Ervine and the big man himself, Shahid Afridi. There are also English stars like Michael Carberry, Liam Dawson, Reece Topley and Jimmy Adams.
Glamorgan only lost three games all season ,the same as Gloucestershire who topped their group it was just the three no results that really cost them. However, when they went on to play the all important knock out game, things really went pear shaped as Yorkshire set them a target of 180, only for the Welsh side to make exactly half of that and be dumped out of the quarter finals. They will look for more power going forward this season from the likes of their Internationals. There are a number of pretty no-name welsh players, but they rely on club captain Jacques Rudolph, Colin Ingram, Chris Cooke and Marchant de Lange – all from South Africa. The South African contingent is a strong one, and one that could carry them far in this tournament.

Glamorgan vs Hampshire: Prediction
Glamorgan often have to rely on their internationals, Kolpak players and British / EU citizens, it means they have a few shining lights, but not a very balanced team. Meanwhile, Hampshire also have some brilliant individuals and they have a winning culture, they are also hungry to get back to winning ways after breaking their streak of playoff games. Expect the visitors to be too strong for the Welsh.
