Godoy Cruz vs Independiente
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 9 December 2018
Kick-off: 01:30 CET
Godoy Cruz took perfect advantage of Tigre’s defensive flaws last Monday, scored three times in Victoria, and left the stadium with all three points, a resounding 1-3. Santiago García scored their first two goals, with Tigre having equalized in-between. All in all, the Mendoza side played a very clever game, assisted by the… tense atmosphere at the stadium, with Tigre’s fans turning against their team in the second half, after Godoy Cruz’s second goal. They have now won four of their last five matches, and the one they lost was at Huracán, a 2-1, to a team that has been playing very-very good football since the start of the season, and feature high in the table. Godoy Cruz are 8th, on 22 points from 13 matches.
Simply put, that 0-1 last weekend was an unfair result. Independiente hosted Boca Juniors, weren’t given a penalty in the first half, went 0-1 down from Boca’s first real chance (if you can call a “chance” a shot from outside the box), saw the referee “invent” a foul on Boca’s goalkeeper that canceled out a perfectly good goal, and they claim there is a second penalty case later on, even though I have my doubts regarding that. All in all, they were the far-far better team on the field last weekend, but… that’s football. A combination of bad refereeing and their own wastefulness (they missed big chances to score), led to that 0-1, their second defeat in a row, in two games in which they dominated, but still lost. Argentina international Maximiliano Meza played his last game at Libertadores de América, as he is about to be signed by Mexican club Rayados de Monterrey for 12m dollars. Interestingly, according to reports, the board of directors members are not willing to spend that money to bring in reinforcements, sending a message to coach Ariel Holan to… moderate his transfer requests.

Godoy Cruz vs Independiente: Head to head Stats
Two Godoy Cruz wins and three draws in the five games between these two in Mendoza the last six years.
Godoy Cruz vs Independiente: Prediction
Independiente are visiting a… hot team, but I’m not deterred, I’m still backing them to win the game. Sure, they’ve lost two in a row, but if you watched the games at Lanús and versus Boca last weekend, you know that both defeats were… “weird”, and not because Independiente didn’t deserve better.
Godoy Cruz vs Independiente: Betting Tips
Independiente’s win is at 2.50, or 1.72, in “draw no bet”. I believe in them enough to avoid the safety net of “draw no bet”. Their double chance pays too little, 1.35.
