Gornik Zabrze vs Pogon Szczecin
Competition: Poland Ekstraklasa
Date: 28 February 2017
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
If I were a Gornik Zabrze fan, I would be mad at my team for being so naive at Slask Wroclaw last weekend, so… wasteful, so “generous” to the hosts. Gornik took the lead early in the game (thanks to the use of the VAR system), spent the entire first half being the only team creating chances, but missing them all. Second half, Slask created… a chance and a half, scored(!), while Gornik kept missing their chances. Igor Angulo, surprisingly, was the most wasteful of all. The… cherry on top was the pitiful way he took the penalty Gornik won in the dying minutes of the match. A point is a point, away from home it… counts more, but given how they played, how dominant they were, Gornik should have left Wroclaw with all three.
Yet another proof of what a different team this Pogon Szczecin is, compared to the… joke of a team we had been seeing until late November/early December. A week after losing 2-0 at mighty Lech Poznan, not only they bounced back last weekend, but they did so against Wisla Plock, one of the most in-form teams in the league. Pogon needed the VAR system to take the lead in the first half, a deserved one, as they were the better team on the pitch. They got equalised, but took the lead again, and this time they protected it (even though Wisla had a shot on the post in the dying minutes of the match). All in all, Pogon did what had to be done to beat such a good opponent, and they deserve a lot of credit. They are making their fans happy, not with the position they have in the table (second-to-last), but with the football they have been playing lately, and the attitude they have been showing.

Gornik Zabrze vs Pogon Szczecin: Prediction
Super-super interesting game, between a team that… loves shooting its own foot, and a team that has been on the rise even before the winter break, and every week that passes seems to be getting better.
Gornik Zabrze vs Pogon Szczecin: Betting Tips
I’m definitely leaving winners and losers aside, I’m betting on goals. “Both teams to score” pays 1.66 and I consider it extra probable. “Over 2.5 goals” is at 1.80 betting odds. Actually, I believe in “over 3.5”, at 3.00, but I’m… afraid of Gornik’s wastefulness.
