Grenoble vs Montpellier
Competition: French Top 14 Rugby
Date: 03 December 2016
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
Montpellier’s away record continues to leave them in trouble as they look to travel to the Alps and take on a struggling Grenoble with a chance to break that losing streak.
Grenoble are now officially bottom of the log with Bayonne picking up two consecutive wins to leapfrog them. Grenoble only have two wins in 12 games, but many of their 14 points have come from bonus points. The men from the French Alps have only beaten Brive and Bayonne this season, but both of those victories came at home. However, Grenoble have had a few real close call, like against Clermont where they lost 21-20 or Pau where they lost 38-39. Their last two games have also been close as they just feel away from home against Racing by five points and the game before at home against Bordeaux they lost by two.
For Montpellier, they have been yo-yo-ing between second and as ar down to fifth on the log. A win and then a loss often follows as Jake White’s men struggle to keep consistency and impress away from home. Their last game against classic rivals Stade Francais was a heartbreaker as they lost there, away from home, 21-17. Currently on fourth. With 32 points, Montpellier have won more games than La Rochelle above them, but a win against Grenoble could elevate them as high as second – once again.
Grenoble vs Montpellier: Current Form
Montpellier have been up and down as they were down last time out, but before that it was a win against Lyon. In the last six games they have shared the results with three wins and three losses. It is evident as well, how much they have struggled at home, as in those six games there were three away games and all three were losses.
Grenoble have lost their last eight games with their most recent game coming as far back as 11 September. Even though they have a home advantage here, it will still be a real slog against a star studded Montpellier.
Grenoble vs Montpellier: Prediction
Montpellier may be really poor on the road, but they have won away from home a few times. Grenoble are a team that are struggling for results and with the stars on the field that the visitors have, and the coaching ability of Jake White, Grenoble will probably find this a tough game, but one they will lose by a slim margin.
Grenoble vs Montpellier: Tips
Grenoble can’t seem to win a game, but they know how to pick up a bonus point. Against a Montpellier side that does not like to travel, in front of their fans, Grenoble will lose within seven points.
