Guangzhou Evergrande vs Jeju United
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 6 March 2018
Kick-off: 13:00 CET
Guangzhou Evergrande’s game at Cerezo Osaka two weeks ago ended in a goalless draw (“under 2.5 combined goals”, at 1.85, was one of my two tips), but if there is one team that deserved more than that, it was they. The CSL side had more and better chances than Cerezo, but again, just like in their 1-1 draw at home to Buriram United a week earlier, they seemed unable to really make their chances good, make them matter. Interestingly, they scored eight goals in their two matches after that goalless draw in Japan. They won the Super Cup in China, thrashing Shanghai Shenhua, but incredibly, they lost 5-4 to Guangzhou R&F on Friday, on their CSL debut. On another note, Guangzhou released Colombian striker Jackson Martinez a few days ago, two years after signing him. The former Porto and Atletico Madrid striker played in just 16 matches these last 24 months, plagued by a series of injuries.
Jeju United were desperate to bounce back after losing to Cerezo Osaka at home on the first day of the AFC CL campaign, and they did just that, beating Buriram United 2-0 in Thailand. It was a pretty… professional win, scoring twice early in the game, and then simply controlling the situation. The championship in Korea just started, Jeju United drew 0-0 at home to Seoul FC, a bit of a let-down, but definitely not a bad result, given the name and the quality of their rivals. Jeju have scored only in one of their three matches in 2018, in Thailand, but on the other hand, they have conceded just one goal, at home, to Cerezo. One goal in 270-something minutes is remarkable, given that they played against Cerezo, Seoul FC, and Buriram in Thailand.

Guangzhou Evergrande vs Jeju United: Head to head Stats
This is the first game ever between these two.
Guangzhou Evergrande vs Jeju United: Prediction
Guangzhou started scoring, they have eight goals in their last two matches in China, so… despite not having won yet in the group, I’m backing them to do just that in this particular match, not overlooking the fact that Jeju have conceded just one goal in three matches in 2018.
Guangzhou Evergrande vs Jeju United: Betting Tips
A simple Guangzhou Evergrande win pays 1.65. Combined with “over 2.5 goals” this goes up to 2.30. This may look… extreme, considering that Jeju have looked very solid defensively these last weeks, but I feel Guangzhou are ready to… explode after two poor (scoring-wise) games in the group, score at least twice, with the third goal coming from either side.
