Guarani vs Deportivo Capiata
Competition: Paraguay Clausura
Date: 18 July 2018
Kick-off: 22:50 CET
Guaraní had an Apertura to forget. They finished 8th, winning only six of their 22 matches. Their target for 2018 was to be in the top-4, so as to play Copa Libertadores football next season, but right now, meeting that target feels almost like mission impossible. Players came and left, in an attempt to make the group more competitive. Truth is, Guaraní don’t have a stand-out player, someone to… drag the carriage out of the mud. They did spent six weeks “cleansing” themselves from the… trauma of the first half of the season, and… maybe they can make things work, collectively, leaving aside the absence of top-quality players/leaders. Plus, they are going to play their Clausura home games at Dos Bocas, their real home, where they played very few Apertura games.
Deportivo Capiatá finished the Apertura second-to-last, despite having the 6th best scoring record in the league. What cost them dearly was their ridiculous defense. They conceded 45 goals in 22 matches, five more than Sol de América and bottom-of-the-table 3 de Febrero. Will they look any better in the Clausura? Judging by who arrived at the club and who left, my impression is that there is not much reason for optimism. The differences between the teams in the lower half of the table in Paraguay are very small, Guaraní, 8th in the Aperura, finished on just two points more than… pathetic Deportivo Capiatá, but I repeat, their roster just doesn’t… inspire any confidence, at least not to me.

Guarani vs Deportivo Capiata: Prediction
I’m going with Guaraní, counting on them to make their home advantage matter.
Guarani vs Deportivo Capiata: Betting Tips
Guaraní’s win pays 1.80. I would stay with that, avoiding risking further with number of goals. It’s the first official game of both teams in weeks, so 1.80 feels good enough to keep the risk as… limited as possible.
