Harlequins vs Bath
Competition: Aviva Premiership Rugby
Date: 27 November 2016
Kick-off: 14:15 CET
Harlequins have already done a big of giant killing this season as they broke a long standing winning record of Saracens, but you have to feel they won’t manage it again against a revitalised Bath team, however, it is at the Stoop.
Bath, who had a stellar season two years ago, slumped hard in the most recently completed one, but now, under former Crusaders coaches Todd Blackadder and Tabai Matherson, the team looks to be having a full on revival. Sitting in second on the log, after only one defeat, Bath already look a real prospect for the title, and know they have to keep winning if they are to achieve that goal. They fell to Leicester Tiger in Round four, and that was also an away game, but they have been ruthless otherwise really buying into a Kiwi style of play, shown best in their 58-5 victory over the Falcons in Round two.
Harlequins,, despite their heroics of rolling over Saracens will not be happy with their season overall, they are currently in 8th spot, and have only picked up three other wins aside from the one against Saracens. The Quins are a renowned and settled team, and expect more of themselves, so they will still have every confidence they can beat Bath and elevate themselves quite well as the log is so clogged up. Four points for a win here could see them climb up as high as fifth spot.
Harlequins vs Bath: Head-to-Head Stats
Having played each other 36 times, it is a close encounter through those games. Bath have won 17, and there has been a draw, but Quins just edge the head to head stats with an additional win to make it 18.
Harlequins vs Bath: Prediction
It is foolish to write off Harlequins totally for this encounter, as they were given even less of a chance against Saracens and beat them at the Stoop. So there is a chance for Quins to dismantle to second-best team in the league, but it feels unlikely. Bath are coming off a pretty tight 16-9 win against lowly Bristol, so they will want to do much better in this game. Expect Bath to win by a comfortable margin.
Harlequins vs Bath: Tips
Bath are missing a few key men to international duty, so they won’t be as ruthless, especially without George Ford running the show. Make the margin of Bath’s win to be no more than 12.
