Harlequins vs Wasps
Competition: Aviva Premiership Rugby
Date: 28 April 2017
Kick-off: 19:45 CET
The Wasps have just about a big enough lead at the top of the English Premiership log, but when they travel away to lay a tricky Harlequins side at the Stoop, they will have to be at their best to keep that lead intact.
Sitting at the top of the Premiership with their 79 points, the Wasps have gotten to where they are thanks to some great attacking rugby. They are five points clear of Exeter who are chasing hard to try and pip them for a famous title win, but the Wasps are not ready to let it slip. They have lost some inexplicable games this season, but in saying that they have only tasted defeat on three occasions. They are also a team that was almost relegated and liquidated not too long ago so they are probably a team that deserves a title and as such, have been playing like it is theirs to take. Against the Quins however, they need to be wary of their giant killing tag.
There have been a few times this season where teams on a high have traveled to the Stoop only to come unstuck thanks to Harlequins and their ability to beat bigger teams. Sides like Bath have fallen foul and struggled to climb back, so Wasps need to make sure this game is not a banana peel. The Quins will also be saying goodbye to a few club legends at the Stoop, so they will be fired up when Nick Evans and company run out making an emotional and tricky game for the Wasps to negotiate. However, the Quins will need to be at their defensive best as the Wasps know only one way to winning and that is through all out attack.
Harlequins vs Wasps: Head-to-Head Stats
Wasps can also walk into the game against the Quins knowing that they lead on the log, as well as historically. There have been 37 encounters between the two sides and in that the Wasps have won 19. Harlequins are not far back with a haul of 17 and one draw.
Harlequins vs Wasps: Prediction
The Wasps seem to have the smell of the title in their nostrils and are going in for the kill. They will play their usual game and look to score tries, and they should be too good for the Quins who will try and adjust their game to stop the free flowing visitors. The Stoop is a hard place to win at though, and it could be a close fought thing.
