Huracan vs River Plate
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 13 August 2018
Kick-off: 01:00 CET
Huracán enjoyed an awesome season last year, finishing fourth in the Superliga, earning themselves a ticket for next year’s Copa Libertadores edition. August didn’t start well for them though; they lost 2-0 to Atlético Tucumán in the Copa Argentina, and their season in that competition is over. Over the last two months, a total of 11 players left, including 22-year-old right winger Ignacio Pussetto who was transferred to Udinese for 10m dollars (eight of which landed on Huracán’s… laps). On the other hand, they signed eight players, spending 6m dollars on 21-year-old center-back Omar Alderete, 25-year-old left winger Juan Fernando Garro, and 20-year-old center-back Saúl Salcedo.
“Under 2.5 goals” (1.50), “no” on “both teams to score” (1.70), and last but not least, “under 1.5” (2.50), were my three tips midweek when River Plate visited Racing Club in the Copa Libertadores, mentioning that deep down I expected a goalless draw. That’s exactly what happened, with River getting left with 10 men right before halftime, when Leonardo Ponzio received a second yellow card. River finished 8th last season in the Superliga, and the way things stand at the moment, they won’t be playing in the Libertadores next season. They need to win the Copa Argentina, or Libertadores itself, to be in the biggest club competition of South America next year. According to reports, Marcelo Gallardo doesn’t intend to make more than one change in his lineup, preferring to give his regulars the chance to find match rhythm.

Huracan vs River Plate: Head to head Stats
Back in January, Huracán beat River 1-0 at home. Before that, they had drawn 2-2 in a Copa Sudamericana match in 2015. Going further back, they hadn’t hosted River since 2011 (1-2).
Huracan vs River Plate: Prediction
River are considered favorites to win the game, but I have my doubts. I prefer to bet on goals instead.
Huracan vs River Plate: Betting Tips
“Under 2.5 goals” is at 1.60. My main tip though is “River to keep a clean sheet”, at 2.37. Their double chance doesn’t pay more than 1.25.
