Huracan vs San Martin Tucuman
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 10 March 2019
Kick-off: 23:20 CET
“I’m responsible for where we are”, that’s what Antonio Mohamed told reporters soon after Huracán’s 0-1 defeat to Cruzeiro on Thursday. El Globo has now lost three games in a row, they are slowing saying goodbye to the Superliga top four, and now started their Copa Libertadores group campaign on the wrong foot. Huracán’s coach said his team were better than their opponents(…), but lacked a goal to make their superiority count. Still, he took responsibility for the bad results, even though the way he did it, it felt like he didn’t really mean it (I repeat, he said they were better than Cruzeiro, despite the fact that they lost). Huracán have now won just one of their last 11 matches(!). They sit 7th in the table, on 32 points, and in a few days they have another Libertadores match, at Emelec, which obliges Mohamed to rotate his team, resting/protecting some of his regulars this weekend.
San Martín Tucumán tried everything last weekend to get a positive result against Lanús, they even shortened the playing field(!) to the smallest possible dimensions allowed by FIFA, thinking that this way they would make things tougher for in-form Lanús. It was Caruso Lombardi’s debut as San Martín coach, there was hope, but things on the pitch didn’t go well for them, they lost 1-2, remaining at the bottom of the “promedio” table. Midweek, they needed penalties to eliminate modest Agropecuario in the Copa Argentina, after a 2-2 draw. With four matches left, San Martín are after a small miracle to avoid getting relegated.
