Independiente CG vs Deportivo Capiata
Competition: Paraguay Apertura
Date: 8 June 2018
Kick-off: 23:30 CET
What a bad game Independiente de Campo Grande played last Sunday at Libertad… Ninety minutes, not a single scoring chance(!), despite the fact that the Apertura’s leading scorer, Sebastián Ferreira, stayed on the pitch until the final whistle. He has scored 12 goals, as many as Olimpia’s Néstor Camacho, but last Sunday he was nowhere to be seen. Inde lost 1-0, getting exactly what they deserved from that match, nothing. They are 5th in the Apertura table, on 28 points, with good chances of finishing in the top-8 once the Clausura is over as well, meaning that they could well play Copa Sudamericana football next season. Even finishing 7th or 8th in the Clausura, should be enough to earn them a Sudamericana ticket. In the “promedio” table they are 9th, relatively close to the relegation zone, but unless… dramatic things happen in the Clausura, they should be fine. The main question is, who will replace Ferreira? He is about to sign for an Italian club, and someone will need to step up, or, at least, have more guys chip in, to score the goals they’ll need in the Clausura.
Deportivo Capiata played a very… gutsy game on Sunday at Defensores del Chaco, against already-crowned champions Olimpia. They took the lead in the first half, found themselves 1-2 down in the 56th minute, down to 10 men less than 120 seconds later, but incredibly, despite playing with a numerical disadvantage against the best team in the country (at least in this Apertura tournament), Depor players found it in them to fight back, and earn a… valiant draw. Robert Aldama, the guy who got sent-off in the 58th minute, is obviously unavailable. Capiatá haven’t won in their last eight matches, they have three draws and five defeats. They are sitting second-to-last in the table, on just 21 points from as many games. On another note, midweek, they signed their first new player for the upcoming Clausura tournament. It’s Iván González Ferreira, a 31-year-old midfielder who spent the last months at Delfín (Manta, Ecuador).

Independiente CG vs Deportivo Capiata: Head to head Stats
Last year, Inde beat Capiatá 1-0 at home in the Apertura, and drew without goals in the Clausura. Before that, they hadn’t hosted them since 2010.
Independiente CG vs Deportivo Capiata: Prediction
Inde have been anything between “good” and “great” in most of their home games in this Apertura tournament, but I don’t trust them to win this game. I prefer to bet on goals.
Independiente CG vs Deportivo Capiata: Betting Tips
“Over 2.5 goals” pays 1.85, and that’s my only tip, unless you’re ok with the very modest 1.28 Independiente’s double chance is at.
