Iraklis vs Levadiakos
Competition: Greek Super League
Date: 5 April 2017
Kick-off: 16:15 CET
What is happening at Iraklis is… crazy enough to be the plot of a film. During the international break, the financial problems at the club reached their peak, with the players going on strike. Just before traveling to Kerkyra last weekend, it was made known that six points were being deducted from them, for money the club owes to two players, or, to be more exact, to two players who went after the club for money owed to them. The correction is necessary because the club owes money to EVERYONE, all players, who, actually, were asked again and again to stay patient, even just before their trip to Kerkyra, which several of the players had warned they would boycott. Despite all this, Iraklis went on to beat Kerkyra 0-3(!!), in a game that made many in Greece mumble words of disgust towards the Kerkyra side, for ridiculing themselves and the Super League in general with their two latest displays. The… cherry on top at Iraklis, is that their most vocal fans are at war with the major shareholder of the club, and create all sorts of problems in every single home game, with this one not expected to be an exception.
At Levadiakos they have been using the word ‘final’ for weeks now, but this time, this is… really it. At 22 points, they are three above Iraklis, with the thin relegation line right in between these two. The visitors know that if they earn a draw, they remain favourites to play in the Super League next season as well. Or… do they? Their last three games of the season are against Olympiakos, AEK and Panionios, three of the five strongest teams in the league. Iraklis on the other hand, have to play against Giannina, Panetolikos and Asteras. So, after all, Levadiakos may not be playing for TWO results in this game, as the table suggests, but in reality, just for one, win. What can prove ironic in the end of the season, is that Iraklis could finish above Levadiakos, but still get relegated, because of their financial problems. At the same time, it remains to be seen what will happen with those six points Iraklis lost, a decision that hasn’t been implemented yet.
Iraklis vs Levadiakos: Head-to-head Stats
Last time Levadiakos visited Iraklis they left Thessaloniki with all three points. This season, in the first round, Levadiakos won easily at home, 3-0.
Iraklis vs Levadiakos: Prediction
Iraklis have six straight draws at home, even against teams like PAOK, Panathinaikos and AEK, but… no win since early December. In every single home game they have showed lots of guts and determination, but not enough to actually win a game and get all three points. Against Levadiakos, I doubt it will be any different. I’m backing Levadiakos not to lose this game.
Iraklis vs Levadiakos: Tips
Draw or Levadiakos pays 1.72. Draw, which is much more probable than a Levadiakos win, is at 3.20. Draw and under 2.5 goals pushes the potential earnings even higher.
