Iran vs Spain
Competition: 2018 World Cup finals
Date: 20 June 2018
Kick-off: 20:00 CET
To write that “Iran were very lucky to beat Morocco the other day”, would be a poor understatement. “Very lucky” just doesn’t do… justice to HOW lucky the Iranians were. It’s not just that they saw Morocco miss good chances to score, it’s not just that Iran’s goal came in added time, it’s mostly that their goal wasn’t even scored by… them. It was scored by a Moroccan player, who – and this may be the biggest irony of all – wasn’t even pressured in that corner kick, he headed the ball into his own net without an Iranian player in a two-meter distance. No matter what, Iran earned three golden points, and are leading in the group. They will need the same luck though, multiplied several times, to get anything from this game.
Credit where credit is due, Cristiano Ronaldo did a fantastic job in that Portugal vs Spain 3-3, but at the end of the match I was left with the impression that Spain had shot their own foot, and not just once, but three times. Silly penalty given away in the second minute by Nacho (who should have known so-so-so much better than take Ronaldo down inside the box), ridiculous reaction by De Gea seconds before the end of the first half (in a Ronaldo shot that resulted in Portugal’s second goal), and last but not least, unacceptable foul gifted by Pique to Ronaldo late in the game. The Barcelona defender has been saying for days now that there was no foul, but still, knowing Ronaldo better than… himself, he should have kept his hands off, not give the referee the slightest chance to whistle. Pique was naive, and Spain paid for it, as well as for Nacho’s mistake, not to mention De Gea’s. Even so, Spain played well in most of the game. Despite the draw, if I were Spaniard, I would feel more optimistic about their chances in these finals now, after that 3-3, rather than before the draw versus Portugal.

Iran vs Spain: Betting Tips
A simple Spain victory pays just 1.16. If they win by two goals or more, you get 1.625. Combined with “over 2.5 goals”, their victory pays 1.83, exactly as much as “Diego Costa to score anytime”. Last, “Diego Costa to score first and Spain to win” pays 4.00.
