Johor Darul Ta’zim vs Gyeongnam
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 12 March 2019
Kick-off: 13:45 CET
I didn’t believe in Johor Darul Ta’zim’s surprise at Kashima Antlers last week, the Japanese side’s win combined with “under 3.5 goals” (2.08) was the tip here, and JDT lost indeed 2-1. They definitely looked competitive, they gave their all to equalize after shortening the gap in the 80th minute (Brazilian Diogo scored), but they had to leave Japan without a point. On Saturday, Diogo scored again, from the penalty spot, helping his team to a 3-0 win at home over PKNP. It was their third win in a row in Malaysia’s Super League, and fifth in their six matches thus far this season (they have a draw as well). This is JDT’s first AFC Champions League group stage game ever, so… you can’t even imagine their fans’ enthusiasm. People breath football in Malaysia, it’s incredibly common to see even young girls dressed in their local club’s colours even during the week (not necessarily on match days), JDT have been waiting and waiting and waiting for this day, so… “enthusiastic” is too poor a word to describe the atmosphere ahead of this match.
Gyeongnam played their part in producing a memorable game last Tuesday, drawing 2-2 at home with Shandong Luneng. They went to the dressing room at halftime losing 0-1, but by the 68th minute they were 2-1 up(!). The momentum was theirs, but they couldn’t stop Graziano Pellé; the Italian scored his second personal in the 77th minute, a really… classy goal, salvaging at least a point for his team. On Saturday, Gyeongnam visited Incheon United, and ended up leaving the pitch empty-handed. They conceded two goals in the first 30 minutes, and all they managed after that was to shorten the gap, 2-1, late. They are on three points from two games in Korea’s championship.

Johor Darul Ta’zim vs Gyeongnam: Head to head Stats
No history between these two.
Johor Darul Ta’zim vs Gyeongnam: Prediction
I really-really like JDT’s chances of earning at least a point. Deep down I see them win, pushed by their fans’ enthusiasm, and even the… climate, to which Gyeongnam’s players are not used to (hot and super humid).

JDT’s double chance pays 2.10, and their win in “draw no bet” is at 3.25.
