Junior vs Alianza Lima
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 27 April 2018
Kick-off: 02:30 CET
Unbelievable Colombia… Just 24 hours before this game, Junior had to host Atlético Nacional in a Colombia championship match, and a very important one, as Junior are fighting to earn a top 8 spot, so as to challenge for the title in the final stages. It really leaves you wondering what do they have in their head, the people who are in charge of the schedule in Colombia’s championship. Atlético Nacional hosted Bolívar on Tuesday, and in 24 hours had to face Junior in Barranquilla. Obviously, Junior’s starting lineup against Alianza Lima will have nothing to do with that against Atlético Nacional, but still, these are things that make Colombia’s football look ridiculous, schedule-wise. It’s not rocket science, they could have found solutions, other dates for some matches, as it’s done in all serious football countries in Europe, other South American countries, and other parts of the planet. Junior are on three points from three matches in their group, those three they earned last week in Lima.
Alianza are with their back against the wall. On just one point from three group matches, they absolutely need a positive result in Colombia, but they’ll have to look for that playing with a super alternative defensive line. Uruguayan coach Pablo Bengoechea has to use a central midfielder, Aldair Fuentes, as a central defender, next to Miguel Araujo, simply because he has no central defender left. Gianmarco Gambetta, José Cotrina, Gonzalo Godoy, all three are injured, so Alianza’s coach needs to… improvise. Regular goalkeeper Leao Butrón and midfielder Luis Ramírez are also out due to injuries, leaving Alianza without five key players. Under these circumstances, the Peruvians’ mission in Barranquilla feels close to impossible.

Junior vs Alianza Lima: Head to head Stats
Junior have never hosted Alianza Lima before.
Junior vs Alianza Lima: Prediction
I do expect Junior to win, but their victory pays less than 1.20…
Junior vs Alianza Lima: Betting Tips
I’m counting on Junior to take advantage of Alianza’s big defensive problem (they are missing several players, will have a midfielder playing as center-back), to not just win the game, but push it over 2.5 goals. It pays 1.87 (“over 2.5” alone, without Junior’s win, is at 1.83). Junior -1.5 goals asian handicap sits at 1.72 and is also very tempting.
