Junior vs Cerro Porteno
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 20 September 2017
Kick-off: 02:45 CET
Before traveling to Paraguay last week, Junior had lost back-to-back games in Colombia’s championship, conceding a total of four goals. Somehow they managed to protect their back in Asuncion, earned a goalless draw, which could prove trickier than what it looks though, since it obliges the Barranquilla side to be extra careful defensively in the return leg. Last weekend they beat Tigres 2-0 at home, their first positive result in Colombia’s championship in almost a month. The… highlight of the match was Gutierrez’s missed penalty, when the score was already 2-0 (so it didn’t hurt that much). The turf around the penalty spot was very bad, and the Colombia international slipped and sent the ball… ridiculously far from Tigres’ goal.
Their home game against Junior last week was their first international at their totally revamped stadium, they wanted a fitting result to celebrate the occasion, but a tasteless 0-0 was all Cerro Porteno managed. As previously mentioned, it may not be that bad, given that they kept Junior from scoring a precious away goal. The Asuncion side will be perfectly fine with a 1-1 draw. Last weekend they beat Sportivo Luqueno 3-2 away from home, despite being 2-1 down until early in the second half. Their winning goal came in added time, and gave them two important extra points. They are just 5th in the table of Paraguay’s championship, eight whole points behind leaders Olimpia, but they have two games in hand, so they can close the gap to only two points.

Playing at home, in front of their super enthusiastic crowd, I feel Junior will find the way to score one goal more than Cerro Porteno, and not just win the game, but qualify as well.
Junior vs Cerro Porteno: Betting Tips
Junior’s win pays 1.60. For more than that, I would risk with Junior to win and keep a clean sheet as well, a combination that pays 2.25.
