Junior vs Santa Fe
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 30 November 2018
Kick-off: 01:45 CET
Good times at Junior… They are one step away from making it to the Copa Sudamericana final, having a big advantage after that 0-2 triumph in Bogotá in the first leg. Plus, last weekend, they drew 1-1 at home with Rionegro, a result good enough to push them to the Clausura final, as they had won 2-3 in the first leg, away from home. Actually, they asked Dimayor (the organizers of the championship in Colombia) not to play the first leg of the final the coming weekend, but the response they received was negative. They are hosting Independiente Medellín, 72 hours after this Copa Sudamericana semifinal. Julio Comesaña, Junior’s coach, doesn’t have center-back Willer Ditta and defensive midfielder Leonardo Pico at his disposal, both injured in the Clausura semifinal against Rionegro. On the other hand, goalkeeper Sebastián Viera, Comesaña’s first choice for the position, should be available (he too got injured against Rionegro).
Things are exactly the opposite at Santa Fe. They are with their back against the wall in this semifinal, after losing 0-2 at home. Plus, something over 10 days ago, they got eliminated in the Clausura, despite beating Deportes Tolima 0-1 away from home. They had lost 1-2 in Bogotá, the tie went to penalties, and there, Santa Fe failed to complete their comeback. Their problems don’t stop there; against Junior, it’s their third(!) goalkeeper, Miguel Solís, who will play, as both Leandro Castellanos and Robinson Zapata are injured. He played in both games against Deportes Tolima, but this is his first appearance with Santa Fe in a CONMEBOL competition game. He is experienced though, aged 35. Center-back José David Moya is out, seriously injured, but has been out for two months now, so… Guillermo Sanguinetti, Santa Fe’s coach, told reporters they are ready, both mentally and physically to revert the situation, but… they’ll need to play probably their best game this season to have any luck against Junior in Barranquilla, after that 0-2 defeat at home in the first leg.

Junior vs Santa Fe: Prediction
The hosts are considered strong favorites to win the game. Going against the odds, I’m backing Santa Fe to earn at least a draw, but I will be… shocked if they manage to qualify.
