Junior vs Sport Recife
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 3 November 2017
Kick-off: 01:45 CET
Junior’s double chance (1.95) and their win in “draw no bet” (3.00) were my suggestions last week, when the Barranquilla side visited Sport, and the Colombians won 2-0, pretty much securing a ticket to the semifinals of the Copa Sudamericana. The game was at 0-0 until the 71st minute, but Junior… stepped on it in the last 20 minutes, they scored the first one, took advantage of Sport’s poor form and low morale, and finished the game off in the 86th minute with a second goal. At this point, they need to commit football suicide to miss out on the chance to play in the semis. Last weekend they beat Atletico Bucaramanga 3-1 away from home, in Colombia’s championship. They are second in the table, two points behind leaders Santa Fe, but they have a game in hand.
Disaster… After their defeat at Atletico Paranaense ten days ago, in Brazil’s championship, which left them very close to the relegation zone, Sport’s (ex) coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo and the board of directors had a talk, and there, they decided to go all for all in the Copa Sudamericana, playing with their best possible lineup midweek against Junior, despite the fact that they had a crucial home game versus Coritiba coming up. Sport not only lost to Junior (a result that cost Luxemburgo his job), but they lost to Coritiba as well, 3-4(!), and are now level on points with two teams that find themselves below the relegation line. What has Sport 15th instead of lower, is their marginally better goal difference. Do keep in mind that Sport have traveled to Barranquilla with most of their regulars missing. Players like Raúl Prata, Rithely, Diego Souza and André, guys who normally would start the game, didn’t travel to Colombia.

Junior vs Sport Recife: Head to head Stats
The game in Recife a week ago was the first ever between these two.
Junior vs Sport Recife: Prediction
Under different circumstances, I would be hesitant to suggest Junior’s win at 1.53, considering it low. Knowing though that Sport have chosen to travel to Colombia and play with an alternative squad, I like that 1.53 enough to suggest it.
Junior vs Sport Recife: Betting Tips
As previously mentioned, Junior’s win pays 1.53, good, considering that the Colombians will face Sport Recife’s reserves. Over 2.5 combined goals is at 2.10, and combing the two, you get to hope for a very good 2.70.
