Juventus vs Ajax
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Date: 16 April 2019
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Sunday afternoon Juventus announced that both Emre Can and Giorgio Chiellini were “progressing well”, implying that… worst case scenario, they would be on the bench, without ruling out the possibility to see at least one of the two in the starting lineup. News were not equally good for Douglas Costa, and Blaise Matuidi’s situation was… complicated as well (even though he was expected to start, after all). Juventus lost 2-1 at SPAL last weekend, without Cristiano Ronaldo (he got rested). Despite taking the lead, they ended up leaving the pitch empty-handed, so celebrating winning yet another Serie A title (mathematically) had to wait. The first leg’s 1-1 in Amsterdam give Juve the upper hand, but Max Allegri and his players were quick to point out last week that Real Madrid earned an even better result in Amsterdam in their first leg against Ajax, and… we all know how it went when they hosted the Dutch side at Bernabéu…
Relief… Ajax are not a one-man team, but everyone agrees that youngster Frenkie de Jong is just too important for them, and not having him in Turin would be a massive blow. He got injured last weekend, there were fears that he would miss the return leg against Juventus, but Monday morning it was announced by Ajax that he was going well, he would be traveling with the group to Italy, and most probably he would be able to play, even start. Huntelaar scored three of Ajax’s six goals on Saturday against Excelsior, in their 6-2 triumph, which kept them at the top of the table in the Netherlands’ championship, level on points with PSV Eindhoven.

Juventus vs Ajax: Head to head Stats
Juventus have hosted Ajax five times in the past, three of those games were won by the Bianconeri, and two ended in a draw. Total goals, 7-2.
Juventus vs Ajax: Prediction
Juventus are considered clear favorites to win. Personally, I’m not tempted by their 1.67.
Juventus vs Ajax: Betting Tips
“Over 2.5 goals” pays 1.80, better than Juventus’ victory, and I consider it less risky. Combined with “both teams to score”, it is at 2.22.
