Kawasaki Frontale vs Sydney
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 13 March 2019
Kick-off: 11:00 CET
Shanghai SIPG’s win was the main tip here last week when the Chinese side hosted Kawasaki Frontale, it came good, but the Japanese made it really-really hard for Hulk and his teammates. The only goal of the match was scored in the 89th minute, and it came from the penalty spot. A Kawasaki defender touched the ball with his hand, possibly inadvertently, but it was one of those cases that the referee is left with little option but to show the penalty spot, no matter if deep down it’s clear that Frontale’s player didn’t mean to touch the ball with his hand. All in all, Kawasaki left good impressions, but it was rather clear that they missed an efficient number 9, someone to… give them more credibility inside SIPG’s box. Brazilian Leandro Damião was sent in seconds before the 90-minute mark last week, too late to make any difference. He started on Sunday, when Kawasaki visited Yokohama F. Marinos, and scored twice in their 2-2 draw.
Last week’s game between Sydney and Ulsan Hyundai was one that could have been won by any of the two, as both had their chances to score. Truth is though, no team missed big-big chances, the dangers they created inside the two boxes were not enough to really-really worry the goalkeepers. A positive for Sydney was that they kept a clean sheet for a third game in a row, and it wasn’t luck that saved them from conceding, it was a seemingly focused – on defending – group, with the midfielders doing very well their part of the job (I repeat, defensively). No game for them last weekend, they had a whole week to get ready for this game, the trip to Japan.

I will be surprised if Frontale don’t win.
Kawasaki Frontale vs Sydney: Betting Tips
Given that a simple Kawasaki victory pays less than 1.50, I would risk combining it with “under 3.5 goals”, at 2.22.
