Kerkyra vs Olympiakos
Competition: Greek Super League
Date: 5 April 2017
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
In two weeks, Kerkyra ‘managed’ to become the joke of the Super League. Just before the international break, they made Veria look like… Real Madrid, losing 4-0, and making many in Greece say that Kerkyra’s attitude was ‘suspicious’. Last weekend, having spent two weeks trying(?) to fix what went wrong at Veria, Kerkyra hosted Iraklis, the other strong candidate to be relegated, and not only they lost again, but they made the visitors look like… Barcelona (0-3). Grigoriou, Kerkyra’s coach, said after the game that everyone at the club should be ashamed, but he’d be much better off pronouncing the same words while facing himself in a mirror… Disgraceful, to say the least. Senegalese midfielder Keita was informed that Kerkyra are terminating his contract, less than three months after signing him. He reacted when he got substituted at Veria, Kerkyra needed a scapegoat, so…
Olympiakos did beat Platanias last weekend, but they struggled, they had to come from behind, in what, either way, left new coach Lemonis very satisfied, since at this stage of the season, all that matters is to finish the job, get the points, secure the title, before they start planning on their next season. German midfielder Marin did very well against Platanias and is expected to be given more time. According to reports, Paraguayan striker Cardozo should also get more playing time. The game at Kerkyra is actually crucial for Olympiakos. If they win, depending on what Panionios will do as well against Panathinaikos, the Piraeus will either secure the title in the Super League mathematically, or they will be 99% there. Subsequently, Lemonis could field an alternative lineup at Levadiakos on Sunday, so as to focus on the Cup semifinal against AEK, next Thursday.
Kerkyra vs Olympiakos: Head-to-head Stats
Since 2010, Olympiakos have won all four games at Kerkyra, with a total score of 11-0(!).
Kerkyra vs Olympiakos: Prediction
Olympiakos. No doubt. The only doubt has to do with how many goals they will score.
Kerkyra vs Olympiakos: Tips
At just 1.20, an Olympiakos win promises insignificant earnings. Olympiakos to win and keep a clean sheet pushes that 1.20 to 1.80, which is more than decent. Over 3.5 goals at 2.35 feels like a risk, because Olympiakos CAN score three goals, but I don’t expect Kerkyra to… contribute that extra goal that would make ‘over 3.5’ come good. Not that Olympiakos cannot score four, but a simple win with a clean sheet at 1.80 maybe is good enough.
