Kissamikos vs AEK Athens
Competition: Greece Cup
Date: 9 January 2019
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
Kissamikos are one of the three Football League (second division) teams to still be competing in the Cup this season. What makes their case… extraordinary, is that unlike the other two sides, that feature relatively high in the table, Kissamikos are at the very bottom(!), 16th, on just nine points from 11 matches. There are two more teams on nine points, but both have a match in hand. Despite their poor season in the championship, the Chania side managed to finish in the top two of their group, and be in the last 16 of the Cup, a big success, no doubt. Panetolikos players will avoid watching highlights of this match, embarrassed by the fact that they “managed” to get eliminated by a team sitting at the bottom of the Football League table…
The biggest news at AEK Athens has to do with Tasos Bakasetas, one of their internationals, a key man for them last season, when they won their first championship title since… ever (regardless of the way they won it). Up until a few days ago, it was taken practically for granted that he was out, about to move… anywhere else, with the glass between him and the club broken for weeks now. Somehow, things changed spectacularly these last days, to the point of having reports claim that he is considered “intransferable”. AEK are just fourth in the Super League, 14 whole points behind leaders PAOK, and they can’t afford to… waste players who have proven they can lead this squad.

Kissamikos vs AEK Athens: Prediction
AEK are considered practically sure winners. It will really be a big-big surprise if they fail to beat Kissamikos, no matter if they have the “pillow” of hosting the return leg at home.
Kissamikos vs AEK Athens: Betting Tips
A simple AEK win is at 1.22. Combined with “over 2.5 goals”, that goes up to 2.10, good enough I reckon to risk with it, despite, I repeat, the fact that AEK know they can… afford to slip up in Chania, having the return leg at home.
