Krasnodar vs Porto
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Date: 7 August 2019
Kick-off: 19:00 CET
Krasnodar finished third last season in Russia’s championship, level on points with second-placed Lokomotiv Moscow, having an infinitely better goal difference in all 30 league matches, but still third, behind the Moscow side, because what matters the most in Russia are the head-to-head games between two teams, and there, Lokomotiv had done better. This is how Krasnodar missed that direct ticket to the Champions League group stage. Last weekend they drew 1-1 at Zenit, a good result. They are on seven points from four matches at the start of the new season in Russia, but mind you, only one of those four games was at home. It’s worth mentioning that they have a very young coach; Murad Musaev is just 35, has been in charge for a year now, and had no previous experience as first coach, excluding a season at Krasnodar’s youth team.
Porto and Benfica fought until the very last day of last season in Portugal, but the Dragons finished second, two points behind their big rivals. Unlike Krasnodar who have played four official matches these last weeks, this is Porto’s first official game of the season. Newly-signed defensive midfielder Mamadou Loum couldn’t travel with the group to Russia, as he has been dealing with a muscle injury for some days now. Porto’s coach is Sérgio Conceição, in charge for two years now. He saw his team sign several players these last weeks, in what appears to be a serious attempt to strengthen the roster enough to win the championship in Portugal and reach the last 16 of the Champions League (obviously, they need to reach the group stage first).

Krasnodar vs Porto: Head to head Stats
No history between these two.
Krasnodar vs Porto: Prediction
Porto are given a slight advantage to win the game, but I wouldn’t bet on them right now. I prefer focusing on goals.
Krasnodar vs Porto: Betting Tips
“Under 2.5 goals” is at 1.73, going up to 2.40 if combined with Krasnodar’s double chance. “Under 1.5” is at 3.05, definitely risky, but all three tips suit my hunch that the game will end either in a goalless draw, or in a 1-0 Krasnodar win.
