KuPS vs Legia Warsaw
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 1 August 2019
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Jani Honkavaara, KuPS’ coach, was honest after last week’s first leg in Warsaw, saying he was left satisfied, despite his team’s defeat. The Finns lost “only” 1-0, a result their coach was more than fine with, keeping in mind how the whole 90 minutes had looked, with Legia pushing and pushing from start to finish, leaving Kuopio hardly any chance to attack. Honkavaara also admitted that his team created just one scoring chance in the whole match, adding that in the return leg they will need to look way more creative if they are to score past a what he called “very well-organized” team like Legia. Kuopio lost again over the weekend, at KPV, 2-1.
Legia did win last week at home, as expected and predicted here, but truth is, I expected more than a poor 1-0. The Polish side finished the game on 17-6 attempts, the on target ones were 9-4, and the corners won were 7-1, all numbers that show which teams did their best to score, and who were more than fine with sitting back, defending, praying for time to pass. Aleksandar Vukovic knows that if they fail in Finland, he may very well not be Legia’s coach by the time the group return to Poland. Legia spent almost 2m euros on transfers this summer, a big amount of money for them, and not reaching the Europa League group stage would be a major failure, not to mention a massive blow, financially, to the club. On Sunday they beat Korona 1-2 in Kielce, thanks to an added-time goal. Once again, Legia didn’t impress anyone with their football, but at least they got the result they wanted.

Legia are considered favorites to win, but I wouldn’t bet on that.
KuPS vs Legia Warsaw: Betting Tips
“Under 2.5 goals” is at 1.70. It’s not much, but it’s my only tip. As I mentioned last week, over the years I have… learned to distrust Legia against weaker rivals in the qualifiers, and I’m not changing my… stance now.
