Lanus vs Racing Club
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 16 September 2018
Kick-off: 22:45 CET
“It’s a pleasure to return home”. That’s what Luis Zubeldía told reporters after taking charge at Lanús, whose president, Nicolás Russo, felt it was necessary to hire a new coach, after the team’s poor start of the season. Zubeldía had worked at Lanús before, both as an assistant and a head coach, between 2008 and 2010. Lanús have lost their last three games, one in the Copa Argentina (to a team from a lower division), and then two in the Superliga, failing to score. Big day for José Luis Gómez, a 25-year-old right-back, who hasn’t played since December due to an injury, but is expected to start against Racing.
Racing Club finished the fourth game week leading, alone, on 10 points, after their 2-0 win at home over former leaders Rosario Central. It was exactly what they needed, a few days after getting eliminated by River Plate in the Copa Libertadores. Diego Milito, Racing’s sporting director, said that the team are going to fight for the championship title until the very end, declaring Ricardo Centurión “intransferible”, meaning that they are not going to sell him, despite the fact that he has… starred in a series of incidents during his time at the club. Centurión is one of the players who lost their spot in the starting 11 after their failure against River. Coach Coudet admitted that “things get heated with players when they are left out”, but insisted that all in all the… atmosphere at the team is good.

Lanús haven’t hosted Racing since 2014. That game ended in a 1-0 win for the hosts. A year earlier, they had beaten them 2-0 at home in the Copa Sudamericana.
Lanus vs Racing Club: Prediction
Lanús should look extra motivated with a new coach in charge, but Racing are still a better team.
Lanus vs Racing Club: Betting Tips
Racing’s win is at 2.20, my main tip. For more than that, I would risk with their “over 1.5”, at 2.50, really expecting them to score at least twice.
