Legia Warsaw vs Zaglebie Lubin
Competition: Poland Ekstraklasa
Date: 21 July 2018
Kick-off: 20:30 CET
Unlike most other Ekstraklasa teams, reigning champions Legia Warsaw have already played three official matches. They lost the Super Cup at home, to Arka Gdynia (2-3), but they did great against Republic of Ireland side Cork City in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, beating them 1-0 away, and 3-0 at home. Carlitos López, Ekstraklasa’s revelation (one of the biggest, if not the biggest) last season, scored their third goal against Cork City, the first of many (if he stays healthy and fit). Do keep in mind that Legia are hosting Spartak Trnava on Tuesday, again in the Champions League qualifiers. Legia also signed José Kanté from Wisla Plock, another center-forward who left good impressions last season, not scoring as much as Carlitos, but still, looking good. He has already scored for Legia, in their home victory over Cork City. Generally, their roster today, looks even stronger than what it did in May, which makes me feel that they are the top favorites to win the Ekstraklasa this season as well.
There were weeks last season that Zaglebie Lubin were leading, before the winter break. They ended up finishing 8th in regular season, and 7th in the Championship Round. They simply didn’t manage to cope with losing key players during the winter transfer period. Two of the three players they signed are Russian left winger Vladislav Sirotov, and Slovenian (both 26, both left wingers) Damjan Bohar, two interesting players to see these last months. Ten players left, but none is going to be particularly missed. Based on what their roster looks like today, I seriously doubt they will manage to repeat their last season success and finish in the top-8.

Two wins for Legia, two for Zaglebie as well, and a draw, in the last five games between these two in Warsaw.
Legia Warsaw vs Zaglebie Lubin: Prediction
In between Champions League qualifiers, Legia dropped the ball against Arka last weekend, losing the Super Cup at home. I feel though that today’s Arka are a better team than Zaglebie Lubin, and Legia have a roster deep enough to find solutions even in the middle of crucial international games.
Legia Warsaw vs Zaglebie Lubin: Betting Tips
Despite their CL qualifiers, I expect Legia to win. Their victory pays 1.57, or 2.62, combined with a clean sheet. “Legia to keep a clean sheet” alone is at 2.25.
