Leicester Tigers vs Glasgow Warriors
Competition: European Rugby Champions Cup
Date: 21 January 2017
Kick-off: 18:30 CET
Lucky for Glasgow, they look all set to qualify alongside Munster in Pool One as Leicester chasing them are an agonizing six points behind and therefore unable to make the ground even if they win with a bonus point.
It has been an odd group in Pool 1 as former finalists Racing have won only a single game, and Munster have qualified despite the unfortunate death of their coach and a postponed game. In between all that, Glasgow and Leicester have been fighting to make ground, but in the end it was not to be the Tigers day as they won only two games, and did not get a bonus point – four-try, or losing – and so have to bow out before their last game even begins. It has been a tough season for Leicester who took a while to get going, but no doubt they will play for a huge amount of pride in their last game at home.
For Glasgow, it is great for them heading into their last game of the pool stages knowing they cannot be caught and should go through alongside Munster from Pool 1. Their three wins as well as a try bonus point and a losing point have seen them do enough, and end of 14 points, just six shy of the marauding Munster, and six clear of the Tigers below. This game will still be important however, and you can count on the Scots not going easy in this last game.
Leicester Tigers vs Glasgow Warriors: Previous encounter
Glasgow blew away the English side when they ventured up North, winning in an outstanding performance 42-13. It was a bad time for the Tigers who were also struggling domestically, but they are on the rise despite the loss of long serving Director of Rugby, Richard Cockerill.
Leicester Tigers vs Glasgow Warriors: Prediction
Glasgow have been a solid and consistent outfit throughout the Champions Cup, as well as domestically. They will still play this game with pride even if there is less riding on it, and should take on a Leicester side that is facing disruptions without their Director of Rugby.
Leicester Tigers vs Glasgow Warriors: Tips
Leicester will still be a competitive outfit, and even more so at home, but you can’t ignore their first result so bet on Glasgow to win again, but the margin to be only 10 points or less.
