Leicester Tigers vs Gloucester
Competition: Aviva Premiership Rugby
Date: 11 February 2017
Kick-off: 16:00 CET
Leicester had carved out a niche sitting in just under the battling top three with some sound performances, but their own form has dipped, and in the Champions Cup quite badly, so they need to be wary when they take on an unpredictable Gloucester side.
Gloucester have been a side living off losing bonus points and tight wins. They only have four wins in the entire season, yet they sit in eighth above a team like Newcastle who have won six games. The Cherry and Whites are on 30 points and join the cluster of team that could rocket up the log if they were to win their upcoming game, in fact, a five-point win for Gloucester could see them up as high as fifth, and leapfrog their opposition, Leicester Tigers. Gloucester just need to figure out how to hold out for wins in games, as it was their first match against Leicester where they held a massive first half lead, only to throw it away and lose.
Leicester’s form has definitely taken a dip recently, which has coincided with teams like Exeter rising above them. Their Champions Cup performances were woeful, they were even niled on an occasion. Their last three games finished with the Tigers losing out to Wasps, Saracens and Chiefs, all though games admittedly, but things just seem to have gone awry since the departure of Richard Cockerill. Gloucester will pose a real test for the Tigers, and they have to do all they can to rise above the unpredictable side, because if they do not, it could be a stone drop down the rest of the log.
Leicester Tigers vs Gloucester: Head-to-Head Stats
There is a lot of history in this fixture, going back a full 41 games, but in those encounters it is clearly the Tiger who have the advantage with over 60 percent of the wins. Gloucester have won 13 times, while the Tigers have got 26 wins and there have also been two draws.
Leicester Tigers vs Gloucester: Prediction
Leicester will really be a prime target for Gloucester as they are hurting after some really poor performances of late. However, it often does not matter the opposition as Gloucester can be their own worst enemies and could lose from almost any position if they put their mind to it. If Gloucester decide to take this game on, they can win it, even if the Tigers fire, but that remains to be seen.
Leicester Tigers vs Gloucester: Tips
Look for a tight game in this, as there always is, and bet on Gloucester to get a bonus point – either for four ties, or for losing within seven.
