Leicester vs Cardiff
Competition: England Premier League
Date: 29 December 2018
Kick-off: 16:00 CET
Incredible Leicester… did it again! A few days after beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge(!), they came from behind, at home, to beat Manchester City as well! Marc Albrighton canceled out Bernardo Silva’s earlier goal in the 19th minute, and Ricardo Pereira scored a magnificent second for Leicester in the 81st minute to earn his team all three points. The Foxes had less than 35% ball possession, but as many shots as Manchester City (10-11), and actually, one more on target than their guests (5-4). Huge win, second in a row, pushing them up 7th in the table, on 28 points. The fact that they are playing again at home, against a team nowhere near Chelsea’s and Manchester City’s level, presents them with an awesome opportunity to make it three out of three at the end of the year.
Cardiff were extremely lucky to avoid defeat at Selhurst Park midweek; they earned a draw (0-0), seeing Crystal Palace have 31(!) attempts, and two shots on the post. Palace’s dominance was resounding, but… they failed to do that one thing that counts the most, send the ball in. It was Cardiff’s first point in seven away matches, and second in a total of nine this season in the Premier League. They are on 15 points, with only two of those having been earned away from home. They are 17th in the table, right above the relegation line. They have conceded 38 goals, two per game on average. Only Burnley and Fulham have done worse defensively than them thus far this season.
