Levadiakos vs Olympiakos
Competition: Greek Super League
Date: 9 April 2017
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Coach Christopoulos and the players of Levadiakos paid the price of their loss at Iraklis, with the first one losing his job, and the players seeing the board give them a 50,000 euros fine. Rather appropriate, considering how poor their display was at Iraklis, and how… frightened they looked in a game that was like a final for both. The drama of Levadiakos doesn’t stop here. Now, they have the same points as Iraklis, and against Olympiakos they cannot count on three important players. Defender Ouon, midfielder Kaltsas, and striker Vasiliou have all reached the cards limit, making their team’s challenge against Olympiakos even harder.
Olympiakos played just enough to win at Kerkyra, which is what they needed, so as to have the ‘luxury’ to rest players against Levadiakos, something rather necessary, since in a few days they are facing AEK in the first leg of the Cup semifinals. Their most influential midfielder, Fortounis, got injured and shouldn’t play against Levadiakos. Defender Botia has reached the cards limit. More regulars should miss this game, which is a good chance for other players to get some action. Last, there was an argument between Da Costa and Figueiras at Kerkyra, but both of them were asked to… tone things down, and seems like that’s what they did. If they win this one, Olympiakos will be champions again, mathematically, regardless of what second-placed PAOK do in their game.
Levadiakos vs Olympiakos: Head-to-head Stats
Olympiakos have won their last eight games at Levadiakos, who last celebrated a home win against the Piraeus team more than ten years ago (in 2006).
Levadiakos vs Olympiakos: Prediction
Despite coach Lemonis making several changes to his lineup, Olympiakos should still win this game. Levadiakos are dying for points, against Iraklis on Wednesday they really shoot their own foot, but the roster of Olympiakos is so rich and their will to finish the season with a streak of wins is equally big, so I don’t expect a major surprise in this game.
Levadiakos vs Olympiakos: Tips
A simple Olympiakos win doesn’t look very tempting, but the potential earnings start looking decent if you combine their win with keeping a clean sheet. Over 2.5 goals is definitely probable, but personally I would avoid it, because Olympiakos are going to play with a first eleven who have played very little together this season, and, on the other hand, I don’t expect Levadiakos to score.
