Libertad vs Gremio
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 2 August 2019
Kick-off: 02:30 CET
What a golden opportunity Libertad missed last week to make a massive step towards qualifying for the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals… Just over 50 minutes into the game in Porto Alegre, still at 0-0, Gremio had Pedro Geromel sent off with a direct red card. From one moment to another, Libertad found themselves playing with an extra man, at a stadium where they actually won earlier this season, in the Libertadores group stage. Not only they failed to score and take an advantage ahead of the return leg, but they lost 2-0(!), conceding both goals while playing with an extra man! José Chamot, Libertad’s coach, said after the game that his team lacked “intelligence”. At least they beat Sol de América on Monday, 0-1, so they are one of the only two teams in Paraguay’s Clausura on nine points from their first three matches.
“Gremio and under 3.5 goals”, at 1.95, was the tip here last week, which still came good despite the fact that the Porto Alegre side played with a man less in pretty much the entire second half. By the way, Geromel is unavailable, because of that red card. Renato Gaúcho rested some of his regulars in Monday’s game at CSA, which Gremio failed to win. They got stuck to a colorless 0-0, despite losing the best scoring chances of the match. On the other hand, it’s worth mentioning that they have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four matches, and the only goal they conceded, in that 1-1 draw with Internacional, was an own-goal. Gremio are just 11th in the Série A, in Brazil, so they have an extra motive to go as far as possible in Copa Libertadores. They are also in the Copa do Brasil semifinals, so they are still dreaming of winning at least one title this season (other than their State championship which they won back in April).

Libertad vs Gremio: Head to head Stats
Gremio have visited Libertad just once before. Actually it was earlier this season, in the group stage. They won 0-2.
Libertad vs Gremio: Prediction
I don’t see Libertad come back, I don’t even see them win this game, no matter if betting companies consider them favorites to beat Gremio.
Libertad vs Gremio: Betting Tips
Gremio’s win in “draw no bet” is at 2.05. Their double chance is not paying more than 1.57, but goes up to 2.22 if combined with “under 2.5 goals”.
