Liverpool vs Manchester United
Competition: England Premier League
Date: 16 December 2018
Kick-off: 17:00 CET
Huge relief for Liverpool, as they managed to beat Napoli midweek, 1-0, at home, and finish in the top two of their Champions League group. They finished level on points with the Italian side, they had lost 1-0 in Naples, both teams had +2 as overall goal difference in their group matches, and Liverpool finished second only because they scored nine goals (9-7), while Napoli had seven (7-5). Doesn’t get much narrower that than… It was the Reds’ fourth win in a row, Champions League and Premier League combined. Last weekend they threw a party at Bournemouth, winning 0-4. They took perfect advantage of Manchester City’s defeat at Chelsea, to climb up first in the table. City have since recovered the top spot, beating Everton at home, earlier this weekend, but Liverpool have their chance now to go back first. They should start with Alisson (he had a big save late in the match against Napoli), van Dijk, Robertson, Lovren, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Shaqiri, Keita, Firmino and Salah (their scorer against Napoli).
Unlike Liverpool, Manchester United lost midweek at Valencia, but either way, they had already qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League. Last weekend they destroyed Fulham 4-1 at home, their first win in five(!) Premier League matches. They finished last weekend sitting 6th in the table, theoretically close to the top four, but both Chelsea and Arsenal, 4th and 5th respectively, are eight whole points ahead of United. They are expected to start with de Gea, Jones, Rojo, Dalot, Young, Lingard, Mata, Herrera, Matic, Lukaku and Rashford. More than half a dozen United players are dealing with injury problems, McTominay, Smalling, Darmian, Martial, Shaw, Lindelöf and Alexis Sánchez.

Liverpool vs Manchester United: Head to head Stats
Just one win for Liverpool (in a Champions league game, actually), two for United, and two goalless draws, in the last five games between these two at Anfield.
Liverpool vs Manchester United: Prediction
The hosts are considered big favorites to win the game. Personally, I’m tempted to back United to earn a draw at Anfield, expecting them to look… cynical enough to keep the score low, 0-0, 1-1.
Liverpool vs Manchester United: Betting Tips
United’s double chance is at 2.60. Their 1.5 Asian handicap pays 1.58.
