Lokomotiv Moscow vs Nice
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 22 February 2018
Kick-off: 17:00 CET
Last week, Lokomotiv Moscow were considered outsiders at Nice, but I backed them not just to avoid defeat (suggesting their double chance, at 1.85), but to actually win the game (3.00). Truth is, I didn’t expect that to happen the way it happened, but… even so, my hunch was proven right. Lokomotiv were 2-0 down 28 minutes into the game, but, very important, they got one back just before halftime. Twenty minutes into the second half, Nice lost a player. Lokomotiv didn’t miss the golden opportunity to… do something about it. Three minutes later they equalised, and in the 77th minute they made it 3-2, which was the final score. Manuel Fernandes scored all three for Lokomotiv, He had three goals in his six previous Europa League appearances this season combined, and in one game he scored as many. He has five goals in 20 Russia Premier League appearances as well, this season, so… it’s anything but common to see him score a hat-trick. It happened in a special game, a game to remember for Lokomotiv, and for Fernandes most of all. No game for the Moscow side last weekend.
It was going fantastic for Nice last week until the very last seconds of the first half. Mario Balotelli had scored twice, they were 2-0 up, but… piece by piece, they collapsed, starting with that goal they conceded just before going to the dressing room at halftime. It was their fourth defeat in a row, and a very painful one, as it has put them in a seriously disadvantageous position in this tie. Last weekend they drew 1-1 to Nantes, at home, another game in which they took the lead but failed to protect it. They are 9th in the France Ligue 1, having picked up just one point from their last three matches.

Last week’s game was the first ever between these two.
Lokomotiv Moscow vs Nice: Prediction
Lokomotiv don’t need to win to qualify, and that’s what’s keeping me from suggesting their victory, no matter what an oxymoron this may look, having backed them to win last week at Nice. I prefer to bet on goals, leaving winners and losers aside.
Lokomotiv Moscow vs Nice: Betting Tips
“Over 2.5 combined goals”, at 2.05 betting odds, is my only tip, considering it very probable to come good, and relatively well-paying.
