Ludogorets vs Bayer Leverkusen
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 20 September 2018
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Ludogorets fell victims to MOL Vidi in the Champions League qualifiers, drawing 0-0 at home, and losing 1-0 in Hungary. They bounced back in the Europa League qualifiers, eliminating Zrinjski (1-0 win at home, 1-1 away). In the play-offs, they beat Torpedo Kutaisi twice, 0-1 in Georgia, and 4-0 at home. They played in the Europa League group stage last season as well, and actually qualified for the last 32. There, they lost to AC Milan twice. They are on 17 points from eight matches in Bulgaria’s championship, two points behind co-leaders CSKA Sofia and Levski Sofia. Last weekend they beat Vereya 2-1 at home (coming from behind, scoring twice between the 78th and the 82nd minute), and right before the international break they had beaten Dunav 2010 as well, 3-1, easily.
Bayer Leverkusen haven’t played in the Europa League in two years. In 2016 they reached the round of 16, where they got eliminated by Villarreal. In three Bundesliga matches this season, they are yet to earn a point(!). They lost at Gladbach on their debut, at home to Wolfsburg, and last week they lost again, at Bayern Munich. They have already conceded eight goals, and scored just two. At least they beat a lowly opponent in the German Cup, a month ago, their only win this season, up to now. Brazilian winger Paulinho, an 18-year-old(!), was their most expensive signing this summer. They paid 18.5m euros to Vasco da Gama for the teenager. Right-back Mitchell Weiser joined them as well, from Hertha Berlin, for 12m euros. On the other hand, goalkeeper Bernd Leno left for Arsenal (25m euros), and right-back Benjamin Henrichs was transferred to Monaco for another 20m euros.

Ludogorets vs Bayer Leverkusen: Prediction
Based on roster, Leverkusen should win, but given how they have looked at the start of the season, I can’t trust them. I prefer to risk with the hosts’ double chance.
