Macara vs Guabira
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 13 February 2019
Kick-off: 00:30 CET
Macará have never lost in an international match(!). If you smell something fishy about the… pompousness of this sentence, you are right. The modest Ambato side appeared in a CONMEBOL competition last year, first time ever, facing Venezuelan side Deportivo Táchira in the Copa Libertadores qualifiers. They drew 1-1 at home, 0-0 in Venezuela, and got eliminated because of the away-goal rule. I repeat, that was Macará’s international debut, so… they have never lost a match. A year after their Táchira heartbreak, they are back, in the Copa Sudamericana, having finished 6th in Ecuador’s “tabla acumulada” in 2018. You can imagine how anxious people are to celebrate their first international victory. Last Friday they played their first official match in two months. They drew 1-1 at Guayaquil City, on their debut in Ecuador’s championship.
Guabirá have a little more (compared to Macará) international experience as a club, having played 10 international matches before. They lost eight of those, but they did LDU Quito once, another Ecuadorian side, so… they may be seeing this as a sign, that they could do well against a team (Macará) that status-wise is nowhere near LDU. Unlike Macará who just played their first official match in two months, Guabirá have been playing regularly since January 19. In five matches in their national championship, in Bolivia, they have drawn three times, and lost twice. Just last weekend they lost 0-1 at home to Bolívar, who needed to bounce back from their Copa Libertadores elimination.

Macara vs Guabira: Head to head Stats
Macará have played just two international matches before, in CONMEBOL competitions, so there is no history between them and any other non-Ecuadorian team but Venezuelan Deportivo Táchira. Guabirá as well have very little international experience, having faced just four non-Bolivian teams before.
Macara vs Guabira: Prediction
The hosts are considered huge favorites to win, something I agree with.
Macara vs Guabira: Betting Tips
Given that Macará’s win pays very little, I would risk combining it with “under 2.5 goals”, at 3.05. “Under 2.5” alone pays 1.95.
