Maccabi Tel Aviv vs Astana
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 2 November 2017
Kick-off: 19:00 CET
After having looked very competitive at Slavia Prague, despite their 1-0 loss there, after having won all their four away matches in the qualifiers, and even earned a 0-0 draw against Villarreal at home, watching Maccabi Tel Aviv getting thrashed by Astana two weeks ago was… hard to believe. They played their worst game of the season so far, and it wasn’t just that they lost, but also how big their loss was, that 4-0, which may prove deciding if somehow the qualification goes down to goal difference. Ever since their humiliation in Kazakhstan they won both domestic matches, including a 5-2 over Hapoel Acre last weekend, in Israel’s championship. They are sitting third in the table there, six points behind leaders Hapoel Haifa.
From zenith, to… not exactly nadir, but… Two weeks ago, Astana triumphed 4-0 over Maccabi, boosting their chances of finishing in the top-2 of the group, enjoying a rather safe distance between them and Kairat in Kazakhstan’s championship as well. After that, they somehow lost two of their three championship matches, including the one to Kairat themselves, last weekend. What that means is that Astana are now just one point above second-placed Kairat, with just one game left. They are playing at home on Sunday, against lowly Akzhayik, and they absolutely need to win. If they draw, Kairat may snatch the title right on the last day, hosting Aktobe. Who would have thought that the title in Kazakhstan would get decided on the last day… A simple draw at home last weekend, would have been enough for Astana to secure them the title mathematically.

Maccabi Tel Aviv vs Astana: Head to head Stats
The game in Kazakhstan two weeks ago was the first ever between these two.
Maccabi Tel Aviv vs Astana: Prediction
At home, at least at home, I expect Maccabi to look decent, unlike two weeks ago. I don’t trust them enough to win without the safety net of “draw no bet” though.
Maccabi Tel Aviv vs Astana: Betting Tips
Maccabi’s double chance is at 1.30, good enough only for those after low but relatively safe bets. Their win in “draw no bet” is at 1.53 betting odds. My main tip though is “both teams to score”, at 1.83.
