Maccabi Tel Aviv vs Baskonia
Competition: Turkish Airlines Euroleague
Date: 13 December 2018
Time: 19:05 CET
Maccabi Tel Aviv (W3 L8) are finally in good form after a really bad start in the season, and the change in coach is finally clicking. After breaking their lengthy losing streak two weeks ago against Bayern Munich, Maccabi Tel Aviv followed up with another win last week against Darussafaka on the road. They made a mediocre start in that match and after a tied first quarter (17:17) they fell six points behind at the end of the first half. They were even down by double digits at the end of the third quarter but bounced back in a tremendous fashion in the fourth quarter. They outscored their opponents by 9:22 and eventually won that match by 71:73. Dibartolomeo led the scoring with 13 points, while O’Bryant had 12 points with 14 rebounds and a couple of triples. Wilbekin scored 11 with 4 rebounds, while Ray and Black had 10 each. Maccabi Tel Aviv have now won four of their last five and each of their last two for the Euroleague. But they still have a long way to go, as they are sitting at the 14th spot, scoring an average of 76.8 points per match against 80.5 conceded.
On the other hand, Baskonia (W4 L7) have also been steadily improving over the past weeks, mainly due to the change in coach. Last week they pulled a nice win at home against the visiting CSKA Moscow. Baskonia started strong in that match but were leading by just a couple of points at the end of the first half. CSKA Moscow were stronger in the third quarter and were leading at times, but Baskonia got their act together in the final quarter and succeeded. Poirier was great in that match with 18 points, 8 rebounds and a couple of steals, while Shengelia had 15 with 8 rebounds and a steal. Janning scored 13 with 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 triples, while Shields had 9 with 5 rebounds. That was their fourth win in their last five matches in all competitions and second in their last three for the Euroleague. They are now sitting at the 12th spot of the league table with an average of 81.1 points per game, against 82.4 conceded. Baskonia will be missing Patricio Garino in this match.

Maccabi Tel Aviv vs Baskonia: Prediction
Baskonia have stayed pretty competitive in this venue in recent years and this looks like it will be another close match between the two. Both teams have suffered a lot with stability issues during the season but are both enjoying a recent season of wellness. They will both look for a win and this will surely be an edgy match.

Baskonia are not always very good on the road and do not get that many wins, but they always stay competitive no matter what. I do expect them to stay strong in this match as well, so I will go with the +3.5 for the visitors here @1.80.
